Short-Term Medical Short-term Insurance is designed to fill your temporary health insurance needs. Short-term plans cover hospital, medical, surgical and accident as well as Rx prescription drugs--all subject to your deductible and coinsurance. Short-term insurance, however, does not cover pre-existing medical conditions. Most short-term plans are written for a period up to 6-months, and permit a re-application for another 6-months. The rates are low compared to traditional individual plans, but these plans are not recommended for long-term coverage. Click on the company of your choice.
